When completely dissolving the airbrush color powder you want to make a very light syrup consistency to cover nicely when sprayed, just thicker than water, but not too thick that you can’t pour it or it clogs into your airbrush gun.
The Light reflective “Shine” colors made with natural minerals may spray better with a “Siphon” airbrush or an airbrush gun that has a bottle underneath the airbrush gun as mica particles like to settle to the bottom of the cup, lay flat and block the orifice. however most airbrush guns should work ok. When using thicker TruColor™ products including any color with Turmeric do not use a fine spray tip on your airbrush gun as these natural colors are “thicker” than other colors.
Example (1/2 teaspoon water to 1/4 teaspoon powder) less water for darker shade
Simply dissolve with water for best results with most TruColor™ . TruColor™ yellow is color derived from Turmeric and will spray and paint well with just alcohol. Most TruColor™ powders require water to activate the water-soluble dehydrated plant color they are made with. TruColor “Shine” is not a “luster dust” and requires water to “Hydrate and Decorate” In most cases only water will “activate” the color powder into a color liquid used to paint on the surface of most dry food products as most colors are not alcohol soluble. You can add alcohol to the mixture after first adding a small amount of water if you want the color to dry faster or you are in a very humid environment.
TruColor™ Natural Food Color Paint and TruColor™ Natural Food Color Paint “Shine” colors may be sprayed with an airbrush gun or painted on with a paint brush!
